The Car...1928 Model A Ford Phaeton, built Oct. 1928

The introduction of the New Ford in 1928 brought a change to the philosophy of the Ford Motor Company. It was Henry Ford's goal to build a car that the commom family could own. The 1928 Phaeton was one of the least expensive selling for $395.00 new.

Our car began its life in Northeastern Washington State where it served as a family vehicle for many years. In the early 1960's it was purchased from an orchard owner who had cut the back off and used it as a pickup. The back half sat out in a field for years until it was reunited with the front half a the time of the purchase. It was moved to Richland, WA where it began its rebirth. By 1965 the owner had discovered that there was more work to restoring the car than he was up to. After checking with professional restorers, he decided not to spend more money on it and into storage it went.

In 1991, after a tip from a club member in the Tri-Cities, the car was moved to my "barn" and remained there for 13 years. It was time to pull it out and dress it up. With my son, Daylan, and several of his friends we began this process that now leads us to Philadelphia, PA. for the Great Race across Amercia 2006.
